Arsenal have wasted no time at attracting players in the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta's men have considerably bolstered their frontline, signing prolific Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City for £45 million. Countryman Marquinhos, American goalkeeper Matt Turner and Portuguese starlet Fabio Vieira have all joined Jesus Emirates Stadium earlier in the window and the Gunners don't look like resting on their laurels either.
Jesus' former teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko looks set to become the north Londoners' fifth signing of the summer, with Sky Sports reporting that Arsenal are keen to wrap up the deal early this week. Zinchenko has prodominantly operated as a left-back during his time at the Etihad but the player himself prefers to be deployed in midfield.

Speaking during a Q&A session with teammate Kevin De Bruyne back in 2021, the Ukrainian said: “I am not that fast, like I wish, so I prefer to play in the middle." And City boss Pep Guardiola has also echoed the 25-year-old's thoughts, claiming that Zinchenko is best deployed as an attacking midfielder.
"In the pockets as the attacking midfielder", Guardiola said earlier this year when asked about the player's best role. "That is his position, definitely.
"When we brought Oleks from Ukraine, he was a No.10 – a Phil Foden position, a creative player. But the needs we had… We didn’t have a left-back for many years.
"Fabian Delph adapted incredibly well in that position and Oleks as well. That’s happened because he is well-educated, he knows exactly what it means.”
