People all over the UK are yet to receive their disability cost of living payment, according to finance expert Martin Lewis. On Tuesday he tweeted that he was aware that many had not received their £150 disability cost of living payment from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
According to the Gov.uk website people that are eligible for the payment should have received their £150 disability cost of living payment automatically from September 20 with most people set to receive their payment by the beginning of October. The DWP said that on Friday, September 30, almost six million people had received their payment.
But by October 3 some were still awaiting the cash. The DWP told Chronicle Live at the beginning of the month that the Queen's death and subsequent bank holiday for her funeral had an "effect on payments".
As a result those that were eligible for the payment but still waiting could report a missing cost of living payment if they thought they should have either had the £150 disability cost of living payment or £326 cost of living payment for a low-income benefit or tax credits but could not see it in their bank, building society, or credit union account.
Some people are reportedly still waiting for their payment. On Tuesday Mr Lewis said on his Twitter page: "I know there are some who should've got their £150 disability cost of living payment who have not received it. We're trying to get answers from DWP about why this has happened and most importantly how people notify them and ensure they get it – yet answers are slow coming back."
Many responded to the tweet saying they were in that situation. One tweeter said: "Not got mine yet but did get a letter from them today acknowledging that they owe me it and that they will pay it 'in due course'". Another one said that they had not received their and had not "had anything from them" since filling in an online form almost two weeks ago.
In response to Wales Online's enquiry, a spokesperson for the DWP said: "The vast majority of the 6 million people who were eligible for the Disability Cost of Living Payment were paid by the end of September.
"We have continued to manually process payments where the automatic payment bounced back or was not processed, which could be for a number of reasons. These people make up a tiny fraction of overall cases and will be paid as soon as possible.
"People who believe they are eligible and haven’t received the payment yet can complete the missing payment form on GOV.UK."
