People told not to swim at popular beach after stream turns blue

Environment bosses have issued an urgent warning against swimming at Exmouth beach after a pollutant turned Littleham Brook bright blue .
The Environment Agency traced the substance to an industrial source, confirming it is not connected to the local sewage network.
Although the leak has ceased and no visible environmental damage was found, the pollutant is currently moving downstream.
Bathers are advised to avoid the water as a precaution while toxicity assessments are conducted.
The Environment Agency expects the incident to conclude by 15 September, at which point swimming advice will be reviewed.
