A mum-to-be has had to contend with people fretting over one of her favourite baby names – with some fearing it sounds too much like the word 'orgy'. Fashion designer Allie took to TikTok to share her baby name list with followers, and one name, in particular, has proven to be a bit divisive.
According to Allie, her baby name list is "strong", and, now that she's reached the "pointy end" of her pregnancy, she's started to refine it, bringing the shortlist down to four. She feels however that some of those that didn't make the cut are just "too good not to share", as they've been "years in the making".
Allie, who goes by the TikTok username @allieinnit, started off the clip with boys' names, with the French name Rou having been among her top contenders, inspired by Johnny Depp's character in Chocolat.
She continued: "The other name that has been the longest on my list, I for sure thought I was going to use it, but four years ago I started an underwear line and called it the name of my future baby. I thought 'it's fine, I'll still use it'.
"And that name is Augie. I really love feminine names for boys."
Allie pronounced the name 'org-i'; not 'or-ghee' however, awkwardly, the auto-captions on TikTok wrote it as 'orgy', and it would appear a number of people heard it that way too.
One person told Kidspot: "I played that three times to see if I misheard her. I'm sorry but I think someone needs to tell her naming your child after a sex act is not a vibe."
Another said: "Oh gawd, you just know that kid is going to get teased for his entire adolescent life. Better teach him how to spell as soon as he's out of the womb mum."
Others however have had more of a positive response to the name, with one person declaring they were "obsessed" with Allie's baby name list.
Another parent-to-be commented: "Oh we're naming our boy Augie."
