People left baffled by showhome garage on former American Adventure site

People have been left baffled by a picture of a showhome that has opened on the former American Adventure theme park site. The photograph is of the garage at the Shipley Lakeside Development.

From the picture, it looks as if the lawn runs right up to the garage. Furthermore, what looks like a rockery in the front garden looks could make getting a car into the garage quite a difficult manoeuvre, reports Derbyshire Live.

Sharp-witted Derbyshire Live readers have expressed their confusion as to how this would work logistically. Ellie Phillips said: "Why is there grass in front of the garage?"

Laurrie Richardson said: "What a daft design that garage is." Iain Leyland and Richard Earp wondered if the layout was so because vehicles other than the family car were meant to be stored there.

Iain said: "That double garage looks a bit extravagant for storing a lawnmower." Richard said: "What’s in the garage? A tractor?"

Steve Cooper said: "How the heck are you supposed to park your car in that garage". Laurrie Richardson replied: "bit of off roading".

It seems that readers liked the idea of the Shipley Lakeside development having street names inspired by the American Adventure. Derbyshire Live suggested Missile Road, Buffalo Stampede Street, Lazy Lil's Lane and Log Flume Close. However, it appears that developers have not chosen to offer this nod to the history of the site.

Nic Ola said: "I want to live on Buffalo Stampede street." Nikita Rusko said: "Your address might be 'Log Flume Lane'"

Some new names were even proposed, some proving controversial. Jonathan Woodhead said: "Maybe a Boot Hill Cemetery? Or an Apollo Drive?"

Dave Bowler, however, said: "As long there’s not a Boot Hill cemetery lane"

A spokesperson for Harron Homes North Midlands said: “We’d like to reassure readers that all homes at Shipley Lakeside have paved driveways, and the showhome will be re-landscaped to match as soon as it is no longer in use as part of the sales complex.”
