People can't stop watching new 'bottle smashing' TikTok trend as video gets 236million views

It's no surprise TikTok has become home to yet another unusual viral trend, with past obsessions ranging from 'Jiggle Jiggle' dances and weird makeup hacks to watching and listening to people eat. But its latest trend is arguably one of the most bizarre so far - and one of the most infuriating, for some.

The newest hit with millions of viewers is the 'bottle smashing' trend, which sees people roll glass bottles filled with various liquids and items down a flight of stairs. Each bottle is filmed as it tumbles down each step, with many tuning in to see if they break into pieces or not.

People have become that obsessed with watching these videos that one TikTok has now been viewed a whopping 236 million times - and counting. Creator, Mrpotee, first uploaded the now vastly popular video back in June, with their other clips racking up a total of 46.9 million likes.

In the footage, a jar filled with white and black sand topples down the stairs before the glass shatters and the sand flies out. Next to go down the stairs is a bottle of Smirnoff Ice Original, which fizzes profusely as it collides with each step.

It’s then followed by a bottle of Corona beer, which breaks on the first hurdle. The rest of the video includes a bottle of Bacardi, Budweiser beer and a jar of what appears to be pickled mushrooms.

For the majority of viewers, the purpose of the videos is to see whether each glass bottle will smash or not, and how many steps it can roll down first. While for others, they simply enjoy the ASMR aspect, with each sound of the glass hitting the marble staircase being music to their ears.

Avid fan, Anthonyfreebury1 admitted: "I watch every new video." Denise Caputo added: "Why do I love this content so much? I have no freakin clue, but keep it up!!"

Hol confessed: "Obsessed with these u don’t understand." Archie Scott gushed: "So satisfying." Hal put: "I live for these videos." Ahskfksjf said: "I LOVE WATCHING THESE."

However, not everyone is enjoying the videos, as some were upset at seeing food and drink going to waste, while others couldn’t help to worry about the cleaning process after and how safe it all is.

Animals fumed: "Wasting bottles." Brenden said: "I would hate to clean all that up." Mya raged: "Waste of money, but shii at least it’s not my money Nd I’m not the one havin to clean it."

Yellow tide urged: "DO NOT TRY AT HOME." Austingj1123 added: "All that money going down the stairs."
