
Beck Bennett is frequently cited as one of the most well-regarded and universally liked cast members in SNL history, but that doesn’t mean it was always smooth sailing behind the scenes for the comedian. Apparently during his first few seasons working at Studio 8H, multiple people told him on multiple occasions that he needed to lose weight. That messaging, especially the ones delivered in “shitty ways,” sat heavy with him during his second season in particular, but he eventually took the advice and decided to cut.
Bennett hasn’t talked a ton about his weight loss journey, probably because he wasn’t ever someone people would consider overweight, but he was asked about it during a recent appearance on The Good One podcast. He told host Jesse David Fox that during his second season, multiple higher ups at the show advised him to lose weight.
