Opening a jar can sometimes feel like an impossible task, particularly for certain people with arthritis or other health issues, but no doubt everyone will have struggled with this at some point.
Many of us can relate to endlessly twisting the cap with all our strength, getting sore hands, and feel like it may never budge.
Often we'll have to admit defeat and maybe pass it on to someone else who has the super-human strength to complete the task.
But thankfully, one woman has shared a genius hack people have gone their whole lives without knowing – and it'll make it super easy to open those stubborn lids without enlisting help.
Author and therapist KC Davis often shares informative videos online, and recently she posted a clip of herself struggling to open a jar of pasta sauce.
In the video, KC says: "I was 36 years old when I realised," after which she takes a bottle opener and places it on the side of the lid. She gently lifts it slightly up to release the pressure.
Then KC tries to twist the lid and it easily comes off.
The video has been seen by more than 3.1m people, and received more than 4.4k comments, with many thanking her for the life hack.
One person said: "I just went and opened every single jar in my kitchen to prove this. Now I have to use it."
Another commented: "I am speechless. You mean I've been fighting kids for 34 years for no reason?!"
A third added: "Oh boy this is a game changer!"
One person had a further tip to avoid damaging the lid entirely, saying: "If it doesn't pop easily, do it on another side or it'll bend the top too much and won't close right."
Others started sharing their own tips, with some saying they do the same but using a spoon or butter knife to release the suction.
Another shared: "I just tap the around the edge of the lid with the end of a butter knife. Works perfect!"
A third added: "I just bang the back of a utensil on the centre of the lid and it does the trick."
