HP Sauce is a statement in many homes - but not many people actually know what the letters stand for.
The brown condiment is a key part to many people's kitchen cupboards. It is often used to make a full English breakfast even more tasty, and no plate of sausage, bacon and hash browns would be complete without it.
While most people are more concerned about what is in the bottle rather than what is on it, others have often wondered where the brand's name comes from. Kept simple, it is just made up of two letters - "HP".

A standard bottle will have the two letters emblazoned on the top in big white writing. While Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster sits below in blue.
The answer to the question is all in the label of the sauce. HP actually stands for "Houses of Parliament".
One surprised condiment user took to Reddit to share the information, where others said that they "already knew". The user wrote: "Who knew that “HP” from HP sauce stood for Houses of Parliament? I mean it does have it on the front."
Another user replied: "I knew. What do I win?" Someone else added: "It's one of those things that I knew, then forgot. You just reminded me again."
Meanwhile, a third added: "I thought I knew that everyone knew. Devastated now."
