Pensioner seriously injured after being hit by car on Scots road

A pensioner has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car on a road in West Lothian.

The alarm was raised shortly after 3.30pm on Monday, September 5 when officers received reports of a collision having occurred in the Main Street area of Fauldhouse.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, sped to the scene of the smash, which involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and a 77-year-old male pedestrian.

The pedestrian was severely hurt and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where he remains, although his current condition is not yet known. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was closed for around five hours while a probe was launched into the incident. Road Policing officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information on the event to come forward.

Stephen Quinn, Road Policing Inspector, said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash or who may have seen either the pedestrian or the vehicle prior to the incident to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with dashcam footage which may assist our investigation to contact us. Anyone with any information is urged to contact 101, quoting incident 2441 of 5 September.”
