A mobility scooter rider died following a collision with a mini bus in County Durham.
The incident, involving a Ford Turneo mini bus and a mobility scooter, occurred on the A689 in Stanhope, at the junction connecting Heather View Leisure Park, just after 7pm on Saturday. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the mobility scooter rider, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Durham Constabulary says the man's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. An investigation is now under way to establish the circumstances of the collision.

Police are appealing for information and officers would like anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch. They would particularly like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage of the mobility scooter rider who had been travelling along Stanhope Front Street just before the collision.
