A female pedestrian aged 75 is currently in hospital in a critical condition following a collision involving a lorry in East Belfast.
Emergency services attended the scene of the incident, which occurred at around 9.15am on the Upper Newtownards Road at its junction with Grampian Avenue.
Belfast City Council has confirmed that one of its vehicles was involved in a road collision in which a pedestrian was knocked down on Thursday morning.
Police investigating a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian in East Belfast are appealing for witnesses and any dash-cam footage.
Sergeant Smart said: "Our enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone in the area at the time who may have witnessed the collision or who had dash-cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting 368 of 03/02/22."
A council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in a road traffic collision on the Upper Newtownards Road on Thursday morning. Police are investigating and we will be fully assisting them in their inquiries.”
The Upper Newtownards Road remained closed to motorists for a number of hours between the Holywood Arches and the junction of the Beersbridge Road before reopening at around 5pm.
"Motorists are advised that the Upper Newtownards Road in Belfast has reopened following an earlier road traffic collision,” a PSNI spokesperson said.
