The Pennsylvania State Police have cooperated with the bipartisan congressional task force investigating the July assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump by providing the requested documents by the Monday deadline. A source familiar with the process confirmed that the State Police were responsive to the task force's request.
The documents requested included a variety of materials such as transcripts of interviews, body-camera footage, radio communications, internal communications, and other information related to the July 13 event in Butler, Pennsylvania.
The task force, comprising six Democrats and seven Republicans, was established in July through an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote in the House. The appointment of the task force came during a politically tense period, with members aiming to demonstrate a thorough investigation into the attempted assassination. The 13 lawmakers forming the task force are expected to issue a final report and recommendations by mid-December.
Last month, members of the task force pledged to uncover the security failures surrounding the incident, even if it requires a slow and meticulous process. Following a visit to the Pennsylvania rally site where the shooting occurred, the task force expressed its commitment to thoroughly investigating the matter.
