The Square shopping centre in Tallaght has said it will delay introducing new car park charges as excitement builds over the opening of Penneys.
After a 20 plus year wait the affordable fashion shop will open in the shopping centre next Thursday, September 15. Eager shoppers are expected to visit the centre in droves to celebrate its arrival.
The Square has previously announced that it will be introducing a new automated car park system that will also see the beginning of a new charge during the first hour - this has now been delayed until Monday, 19 September. It will be €1 for the first three hours of parking and it was due to begin this coming Saturday, September 10.

Car park costs for the shopping centre previously saw the first two hours free for customers with a €2 charge per hour after that. A new car park charge is also being introduced in Liffey Valley shopping centre, with staff concerned about the cost over the year.
In a statement to its Facebook, the Square said: "Due to the anticipated increase in customer and traffic numbers coming to the Square during the opening of Penneys next week, we have decided to defer the launch of our new car park system until Monday 19 September. Customers can avail of free parking up until this date."
