Penneys recalls thousands of kids' shorts over strangulation fears

Penneys has recalled a huge batch of kids' clothing sold in Ireland over safety fears.

The popular retail giant has asked parents and guardians to keep "Primark Faded Leaf Children’s Shorts" out of reach of children as it could result in strangulation. The ends of the drawstrings measure more than 20cm which could result in them getting entangled and causing accidents.

The brand for the implicated items is Primark and the type/number of the model is 3070301. The batch number and the barcode are unknown. A total of 1,129 affected products were sold in Ireland.

A notice on the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission website advises customers to discontinue the use of the product immediately and keep it away from children. It states: "If you have purchased this product then please return it to any Penneys/Primark store where you will be offered a full refund."
