'Pehle sunte the, ab khel rahe hain': Babar Azam can't wait for India vs Pakistan at T20 World Cup

Pakistan will take on USA on Thursday to open their T20 World Cup campaign, but it's the match againt archrivals India on June 9 that the players and fans have their eyes on.

"Poori duniya iss cheez ka intezar karti hai (the whole word waits for this)," said Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, on Star Sports about the big game in New York.

Pakistan have lost six of the seven matches they have played against India in T20 World Cup history. But Babar says it boils down to which team holds its nerves better on the day.

The Pakistan skipper said that he used to hear about that while he was growing up and now experiencing it as a player.

"It's a different kind of pressure, to control the nerves. You learn that from experience, the more you play...especially in Pakistan-India matches. Woh hum pehle sunte te, ab hum khel rahe hain (first we used to hear about it, now we play). That's a different vibe," he said.

"It's a big match and we always enjoy it."

India, meanwhile, began their campaign in style by hammering Ireland in their opening group match in New York by eight wickets.

India, Pakistan, Ireland, USA and Canada are the four teams in Group A, from where the top two will qualify for the 'Super 8s'.
