Pedro Caixinha takes post Rangers odyssey to Argentina as he closes in on fourth club since Ibrox departure

Former Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha could be about to take his career to Argentina in his next role.

The Portuguese boss has managed Mexican sides Cruz Azul and Santos Laguna since leaving the Scottish Premiership in 2018, along with a spell at Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabab.

Now he is set to move to Primera Division side Talleres de Cordoba, according to Argentine outlet TyC Sports.

It would be the eighth country Caixinha has coached in, having also spent time at various teams in his homeland while playing assistant at Greece's Panathinaikos and Romania's Steaua Bucharest before managing Rangers and Qatari side Al-Gharafa.

Talleres are in need of urgent help as they find themselves bottom of their section in the Argentine league after six games.

Caixinha was sacked by Santos Laguna - who dubbed themselves 'little brothers' of Celtic because of the clubs' off-pitch partnership - late last month.

He had previously led Santos to the Liga MX title but things didn't go so well second time around after two wins in eight games and he was swiftly dismissed.

A club statement read: "After carrying out the corresponding analysis of the performance and sports results at the time, the Santos Laguna Sports Committee decided to complete the cycle of Pedro Caixinha and his Technical Corps at the head of the First Team.

"We are grateful for the professionalism and dedication of Pedro and his work team, to whom we wish every success in their future projects."
