Dr. Tanya Haj-Hassan, a pediatric intensive care doctor with Doctors Without Borders, recently returned from Gaza and shared harrowing details of the situation in the enclave. In an interview with CNN, she described the scene as a 'massacre of human and civilian life.'
According to Haj-Hassan, there have been numerous killings of civilians, both young and old, with entire families being affected. She recounted a heartbreaking story of a young boy who lost his entire family in the conflict. Despite his own injuries, the boy's sister survived initially but was so severely burned and maimed that he could not recognize her. Tragically, the sister passed away two days later.
Describing the horrific injuries she witnessed, Haj-Hassan mentioned seeing families being killed, maimed, dismembered, and burned in the emergency department. She emphasized the urgent need for action, stating that the war in Gaza has been extensively documented in real-time through social media videos.
Expressing her dismay at the ongoing violence, Haj-Hassan highlighted the importance of collective humanity and called on individuals to act with conscience. She urged viewers to translate their awareness into meaningful action to address the crisis in Gaza.
