A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a car on the M8 motorway, leading to the road being closed in both directions.
Emergency services were called to the motorway near Junction 29 and Junction 30 in Paisley at around 11.45pm on Sunday following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
A 45-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have said his next of kin has been made aware.
No other injuries were reported.
The road was closed to allow detectives to carry out their investigation into the incident and was reopened around 8.55am on Monday.
Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time, and our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and has yet to speak with officers to come forward.
“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The M8 remains closed between J29 and J30, Paisley, following a crash reported to us around 11.45pm on Sunday, 13 September, 2026.
“Emergency services are in attendance, and motorists should use an alternative route.”
