Peaky Blinders teases return of familiar face as Tommy seeks help for daughter's illness

Peaky Blinders looks set to be welcoming back a familiar face in a forthcoming episode.

Season six of the much-loved show kicked off on February 27, and fans are now eagerly awaiting the third instalment this weekend.

New images released by the BBC show Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) walking through a field with Esme (Aimee-Ffion Edwards) as well as riding horses together.

Esme was first introduced to the show back in season one when she married Tommy's brother John Shelby (Joe Cole) as part of an arranged agreement to mother his four children.

However, Esme kept herself out of the Shelby family's dodgy dealings and retreated after John was murdered in season four.

Last Sunday at the very end of episode two, Tommy was heard making a phone call and said: "Madonna, put me through to the number I gave you for Esme Shelby Lee."

It's thought that Tommy could be getting back in touch with Esme because he thinks she can help with his daughter Ruby's illness.

Young Ruby has been having visions of the devil and it is thought someone may have put a curse on her, leaving Tommy panicked.

At the end of episode two, Ruby had a worrying relapse and her drawings looked disturbed.

She told her mother Lizzie that she could hear voices coming from the chimney and said: “The grey man is coming for me and daddy."

Will Esme be able to help with the possible gypsy curse? Or is there more grief on the horizon for Tommy and his family?

Peaky Blinders fans were also delighted by the return of another familiar face recently in the form of Tom Hardy.

The British actor reprised his role as the iconic Alfie Solomon when Tommy was seen walking through a darkened distillery with the lights flashing on as he walked by.

In the background was the famous opera Nessun Dorma and as Tommy made it to the end of the row he was greeted by the cockney character.

Alfie hilariously quips: "I always thought opera was fat people shouting," as viewers were reintroduced to the character.

As Alfie and Tommy get involved in an intense discussion, the Brummie man tells his associate: "Alfie, I think I may have written your final act."

Peaky Blinders Season 6 continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
