Peak-hour crash leaves Vespa rider with serious injuries

A scooter rider has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an intersection crash with a car in Canberra's west.

Emergency services were called to the incident, involving a Vespa and a Mazda BT-50, in Page about 8.30am on Thursday, July 16.

An ACT Policing spokeswoman said ACT Ambulance Service paramedics treated the injured rider at the scene, at the intersection of Chewings Street and Belconnen Way, before taking them to hospital.

It is understood the driver of the Mazda is assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are now seeking witnesses and dashcam footage of the crash and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
