Romeo Beckham is said to be playing peacemaker to “smooth over” an alleged family feud.
The 20-year-old has reportedly helped fix relations between the Beckhams and the family of US actress Nicola Peltz, 27, who brother Brooklyn, 23, wed in April.
Tensions are said to have grown since the service and their mum Victoria, 48, is reportedly annoyed that the bride, a billionaire heiress, did not choose a wedding dress from her fashion house.
Sources also say Nicola was unhappy about her new mother-in-law stealing the limelight on the big day at her family’s estate in Florida. And now, sources claim Romeo is trying to repair the damage by acting as a mediator – talking to his mum as well as Brooklyn and Nicola.
A source said: “There is tension between the families and Brooklyn is torn down the middle. He feels conflicted and the result is he and Romeo have become much closer. Romeo has been his shoulder to cry on and his rock.”
Victoria, footie star hubby David, 47, and kids Cruz, 17, and Harper, 11, celebrated Romeo’s 20th birthday with him in Miami this week but there was no sign of Brooklyn. He was also absent from the Beckhams’ summer holidays in recent months. Instead, he has been posing with Nicola at various events in the US.
The source said: “Romeo has been on the end of the phone to his brother morning, noon and night. He has also been talking to Nicole to try to smooth over the situation.
“It’s awful for Brooklyn that his marriage has started out with so much stress between his mother and his new bride. Nicole has demanded loyalty from him at all costs.”
It comes after Inter Miami footballer Romeo split from model Mia Regan, 19, following a three-year romance. The source said: “The brothers have found a new level of confidence and closeness through this sadness.”
Many assumed Spice Girl turned fashion designer Victoria would be providing Nicola’s wedding dress – but instead Nicola appeared on the May cover of Vogue in Valentino couture.
She insisted she didn’t shun Posh, telling Variety magazine: “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress.”
It was claimed they also clashed over the first dance – with reports suggesting Victoria swept in and danced with her son, much to the annoyance of Nicola.
A spokesperson for the Beckhams declined to comment. Spokespeople for the Peltzes were contacted for comment.
