PayPal will be laying off 2,000 employees as part of global job cuts.
The fintech company will be slashing 7% of its total workforce around the world. PayPal employs over 2,000 people in Ireland but it is yet unclear how the Irish staff will be affected by the announcement.
The company slashed around 300 jobs from its offices in Dundalk and Dublin last year. In a message to staff, PayPal president and CEO Dan Schulman said the jobs will be cut within weeks with some departments impacted more than others.

He added: "We must continue to change as our world, our customers, and our competitive landscape evolve. We will treat our departing colleagues with the utmost respect and empathy, provide them with generous packages, engage in consultation where required, and support them with their transitions"
The news comes as several other tech multinationals including Meta, Twitter, Microsoft, Google, and Tik Tok have slashed jobs from their global workforce in the last few months.
