A cameo by Paul Walker’s daughter in the latest “Fast & Furious” film revved up her co-stars.
Meadow Walker Thornton-Allan appears in the recently released “Fast X” as a flight attendant with a brief-but-important role in a sequence involving John Cena’s Jakob. It’s her first appearance in the movie franchise that her father helped launch more than a decade before his death in 2013.
“It did something to my soul, to see her want to honor her father and to contribute in her own way to his life’s work. ... It meant everything,” Vin Diesel, who stars as action hero Dom Toretto, told People magazine.
Walker Thornton-Allan, 24, was the only child of Walker, who died at age 40 as passenger in a single-car crash. He starred as the former cop Brian O’Connor in six “Fast & Furious” films, including 2015′s “Furious 7,” which came out after his death.
“To have (Walker Thornton-Allan) be on set and work her butt off was really, really inspiring,” Jordana Brewster, who plays Brian’s partner, Mia Toretto, told People.
“Fast X,” which came out Friday, is the 10th installment to the main series of “Fast & Furious” movies and the 11th film in the franchise overall. About a week before its release, Walker Thornton-Allan announced her involvement with “Fast X” and shared an image of her character.
“Thanks to my dad, I was born into the Fast family,” Walker Thornton-Allan wrote on Instagram at the time. “I can’t believe now I get to be up there too. With those who have been around to see me grow up.”
The movie led the box office in its opening weekend, grossing $67.5 million in North American and $319 million globally.
Michelle Rodriguez said it meant “everything to us” to have Walker Thornton-Allan in the film.
“(Paul’s) memory is never going to die within the franchise, so as long as we’re doing it, we have to maintain that, (keeping his) energy alive,” she told People.
