Paul Robinson slams Son Heung-min for Kurt Zouma incident during Tottenham's tie vs West Ham

Tottenham produced a solid performance to secure three points against West Ham on Sunday. The 3-1 victory took Antonio Conte's side to fifth in the league, in their final match before the international break.

When Spurs return from the break they will have nine matches left to play, as they continue their battle for a spot inside the top four. The Lilywhites are now just three points behind Arsenal, although their north London rivals do have a game in hand.

The game saw Tottenham have 17 shots, with four on target and after a ninth minute own goal, it was Son Heung-min who scored a brace to secure his side the three points. Conte described the international break as a "pity" because of his side's "good form" and Spurs will have to still wait over a week before their next match.

There were some solid performances produced by a number of Spurs players at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, as well as an overall solid team display. Son is one player who has suffered a dip in form recently, but his performance against David Moyes' side showed him back to his best.

The South Korean had 91.9 per cent passing accuracy, as well as producing six crosses and three shots. The 29-year-old has also already scored for his country in their first game of the break against Iran. However, an incident during the West Ham game hasn't gone down too well with some. During the second half, Tottenham were awarded a corner and the ball was in the box.

Kurt Zouma kicked the ball towards the corner flag, hitting Son on its way and he ends up on the ground as a result. The South Korean then puts his hands up, as if to question the defender and this causes Sergio Reguilon to run over to the West Ham player and it causes a bit of commotion.

The Spaniard obviously believed that Zouma had kicked the ball at his Spurs teammate on purpose, but Irons striker Michail Antonio was not happy with his response. "I don’t know if people have seen it. But, one of our players got slapped in the face. And there wasn’t a decision made," Antonio explained on the Footballer's Football podcast, via HITC.

"Kurt was kicking the ball out for them to take a corner and he’s hit Son in the calf with the ball. Reguilon has run over to Kurt angry. Cress [Aaron Cresswell] has stepped in front of him to push him away and he’s slapped Cress in the face."

No action was taken after the incident but Tottenham's former goalkeeper Paul Robinson in fact slammed Son for his actions. "It was pathetic," the 42-year-old told Football Insider.

"We all know what a talent Son is but that was laughable. To think that the players went over there and backed him up, rather than tell him to get up… you do not want to see [that] in the game.

"What example does that set for kids around the world? Kids will be playing in the park and copying these players. They will be diving all over the place and think that it’s acceptable.

"Players have to remember that they are role models. To behave like that was nothing short of pathetic," Robinson added. The ex-Lilywhites keeper clearly felt as though Son overreacted and perhaps his teammates should've pointed that out.
