Fabio Cannavaro has questioned Paul Pogba's performances at Manchester United ahead of his potential return to Juventus.
The World Cup winner, 29, struggled to impress during his second spell at Old Trafford following his world-record transfer from Juventus in the summer of 2016, winning just two major honours - the EFL Cup and Europa League - in six seasons.
Pogba will leave United when his contract expires this month and Juventus are leading the race to sign him. He won eight trophies during his first spell in Turin - including four Serie A titles - and played in the 2015 Champions League final, losing 3-1 to Barcelona.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be interested in signing Pogba. Yet Cannavaro believes he will be "no use" to France or his next club if he fails to rediscover his best form. Pogba has scored just eight club goals in the last three seasons.
"Pogba to Juve? I hope to see the real Paul again, the one from the first Juventus experience," Cannavaro told Tuttomercatoweb via the Manchester Evening News. "He has to find the reasons. The midfielder of recent seasons is of no use to Juventus or France."
Pogba's United exit was confirmed last week. "I feel privileged to have played for this club," The midfielder wrote on Instagram. "Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly an unconditional support from the fans. Thank you Manchester United."

Pogba initially left United for Juventus in the summer of 2012 after struggling to get minutes under iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Speaking to talkSPORT, Ray Parlour believes Ferguson was right not to make the Frenchman a first-team regular at Old Trafford.
"You go back to Sir Alex Ferguson when he let him go, he wasn’t his sort of player – there’s a reason why he let him go," said Parlour. "Sir Alex Ferguson must have looked at him and said his dedication isn’t right or something’s wrong, that’s why he let him go.
"He’s come back to the club and maybe he’s still the same. Sometimes you don’t change. Sometimes I’ve seen Pogba play and I’m thinking, 'Come on, liven up a bit', you know? As a player you’ve got to perform every week, you’ve got to put the effort in every week.
"And you haven’t seen that from Pogba in a Manchester United shirt. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out as a player, it’s a lot of money to spend, he was a big signing for Man United."
But Pogba's former team-mate Patrice Evra has defended his second spell at United. "It's time to go, good luck to him but it's sad because Paul loves United," said Red Devils icon Evra last month. "He was even in depression but Paul was always the scapegoat.
"But he could've been more consistent, he also has to take some responsibility. But I think it's unfair and I think people have been too harsh on him."
