Paul Pogba's vow to "extraordinary" Aurelien Tchouameni as Erik ten Hag makes Man Utd move

Paul Pogba has called on Manchester United to sign his France teammate Aurelien Tchouameni, who is now firmly on Erik ten Hag's radar.

The Ajax boss is due to leave his role in Amsterdam and take charge at Old Trafford when the current season ends. Already plans are being made with a shortlist of potential new arrivals being drawn up. Monaco midfielder Tchouameni features on that list, which comes following Pogba's wish.

The club and Ten Hag have both compiled lists of summer targets.

The World Cup winner has played alongside his compatriot in the middle of the park whilst on international duty. Despite only being 22-year-old Pogba has hailed his maturity and Tchouameni continues to go from strength to strength in Ligue 1.

Central midfield has been cited as a major issue for United, who have opted against signing anyone to bolster their ranks in the position. This summer it appears to be among their priorities with the likes of Declan Rice also linked previously.

Pogba has spoken about his desire to have him in Manchester - and could soon have his wish.

He told RTL previously: "Very, very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man. It’s a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality. We wish him to play a lot more games and that I am always by his side."

Monaco are open to offloading Tchouameni, but would seek a fee of between €60m-€70m, reports ESPN. PSG are keen on the midfielder, but he would prefer a move away from France if he did leave the principality. Chelsea have held discussions but their uncertain future would give United the upper hand.

Will Paul Pogba leave Man Utd? Let us know in the comments

The question will be whether Pogba himself remains at Old Trafford. It could be a case of one in and one out if United to decide to pursue the Monaco star. Pogba's contract runs out this summer and he is more likely to move on than he is to stay put.

Talks have been shelved for months and United run the risk of losing their £89m record-signing for nothing. Pogba has spent large parts of the season out injured but has returned to the first team under Ralf Rangnick. The Frenchman's future has previously been played out in public.

Agent Mino Raiola has talked up a return to Juventus whilst Real Madrid have also been touted as a potential location. Pogba's potential availability as a free agent may see other interest parties come out with no transfer fee to be factored in.
