Paul Pogba names Liverpool among two most hostile Manchester United away games

Paul Pogba has played in some of the biggest games around the world during his career, and has faced some pretty hostile atmospheres during that time.

The Manchester United midfielder’s career has seen him play at some of the most iconic grounds in football. His time with United and Juventus has seen him take to the stage at the likes of the Bernabeu, the Nou Camp, the San Siro, and plenty of other intimidating atmospheres.

Given his long connection with United though, it perhaps comes as no surprise to hear which ground ranks highest in his list of hostile atmospheres. Playing against Liverpool at Anfield has proven to be one of United’s biggest tests down the years given the two clubs’ rivalry.

Yet Pogba made something of a surprise choice while naming another ground with a most hostile atmosphere. Having played in Italy for four years, you might have expected the likes of AC Milan, Inter, Napoli or Roma to have been mentioned, but instead it’s a German ground which gets the France international’s vote.

Asked for his most intimidating atmospheres, Pogba told FootballJOE : “I think there’s two. Liverpool at Anfield, and Dortmund.”

Despite perhaps being a surprise choice, Borussia Dortmund have developed a reputation for having one of the most intimidating grounds in football. The Westfalenstadion’s famous “Yellow Wall” boasts the largest terrace for standing spectators in Europe, aiding their intense atmosphere.

When it comes to his favourite ground though, there was never going to be any other answer for the United academy graduate. Fans may just hope it might be enough to convince him to stay this summer.

“Old Trafford,” Pogba responded. “The atmosphere, the fans, when you look at the stadium it has to be one of the most beautiful stadiums.”
