Paul O’Grady’s replacement for Annie has been confirmed.
BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing Judge Craig Revel Horwood has announced he will be replacing Paul as Mrs Hannigan in the UK tour of Annie, as reported by Birmingham Live.
Craig, 58, has stepped into the role following the sudden death of the Birkenhead-born TV presenter. The ITV’s Love of Dogs host died aged 67 last month - his funeral is taking place today, Thursday, April 20. It was later confirmed the Lily Savage star died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

Craig has previously performed the role of Miss Hannigan at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre, but will now take over Paul's role. He and his late friend Paul were already sharing the role of the main antagonist in Annie.
The professional dancer previously paid tribute to Paul after hearing the news. He tweeted: “I’m in a state of shock this morning waking up to the news that my gorgeous colleague and friend Paul O’Grady has passed away. I’m actually reeling in disbelief. He was such a wonderful human being. Funny and to the point. Paul, legend, RIP darling."
Paul was due to appear as Miss Hannigan in Annie at the Empire this June. The Empire Theatre paid an emotional tribute to him following the news of his death.
The theatre tweeted: "All at the Liverpool Empire Theatre are deeply saddened by the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of beloved actor, comedian and TV personality Paul O’Grady. Our thoughts are with his husband, family and friends at this difficult time."
A spokesperson for Annie the Musical added: “Everyone at Annie The Musical is stunned and saddened by the passing of Paul O’Grady. An incredible Miss Hannigan and an irreplaceable, hilarious and generous person who we will all miss immensely.
"Our thoughts are with Paul’s family and friends at this very sad time. There will be further news from Annie The Musical in due course.”
Paul will be laid to rest in Kent today with a private service featuring a guard of honour with dogs from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and an appearance from the Salvation Army Band.
Whereas closer to home, in Birkenhead, a fan named Janine Ferguson has planned a massive street celebration in honour of the star.
Janine is requesting fans bring books of condolences and their dogs as a sign of respect and to represent the late stars' adoration for animals.
Janine said: "The plan is for people to line the streets with their families and bring their dogs as a sign of respect. I’ve asked for all local rescue dogs and cats' homes to attend as well so we can collect donations from everyone there."
“It only started off as a small idea but it has gone absolutely mad. I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction and the feedback."
