Joe Gomez has been urged to stay at Liverpool beyond the summer by former Arsenal star Paul Merson.
The Liverpool defender has found game time hard to come by this season after recovering from a serious knee injury during pre-season.
Ibrahima Konate was signed from RB Leipzig to bolster to Reds defence and the form of Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip has Gomez fourth in the pecking order.
Aston Villa have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, but Merson believes he should stay put at Anfield.

Gomez 's chance will come once again in the heart of the Liverpool defence, but he will need to be patient.
“Joe Gomez is another player who has been talked about a lot in recent weeks,” said Merson to Sportskeeda.
“With his lack of game time an obvious issue at the moment.
“He won’t be short of suitors and the decision will ultimately be his at the end of the season, but I do think he should stay at Liverpool.
“They are a really successful team and will compete on all fronts next season, so he will play enough games.”
There is sure to be plenty of interest surrounding Gomez in the summer with the likes of Villa and Newcastle rumoured to be keen.
