Paul Merson is unsure over whether Trent Alexander-Arnold will be able to carry on in his new inverted full-back role against bigger teams.
Alexander-Arnold's new role was first seen during Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Premier League leaders Arsenal and then it was displayed to a greater effect in the 6-1 thrashing of Leeds United.
The 24-year-old is still deployed as a right-back on the team sheet, but he is now seen roaming into the middle of the pitch to get on the ball and create chances with his sublime passing abilities.

Alexander-Arnold recorded two assists at Elland Road on Monday night as he looked rejuvenated in his new inverted full-back role.
Despite the promising signs against Arsenal, Merson told SportsKeeda: “Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best passer of the ball in England. He can spray the ball all over the pitch, and he can put it on a six-pence.
“He doesn’t play safe passes and will rip it up against lesser teams, but I don’t know if it’ll work against the big guns.
"His passing is second to none at Liverpool and I like what he’s trying – it’s very expansive."
