Paul Merson makes big Nottingham Forest prediction after Newcastle transfer

Former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder Paul Merson has backed Nottingham Forest to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Forest are strapped in for a busy deadline day, with Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey among the players to arrive at the City Ground today. Atletico Madrid defender Felipe is also going to sign, while the Reds are keen to sign a goalkeeper and perhaps a winger.

Merson was asked about the arrival of Shelvey in particular, heaping praise on the 30 year-old defender and backing Forest to stay up this season under head coach Steve Cooper.
