Paul Merson gives worrying Nottingham Forest verdict and makes Leeds United comparison

Paul Merson had claimed that Leeds United would have beaten Nottingham Forest 'comfortably', before the Monday night clash was postponed following Her Majesty the Queen's passing last week.

The Premier League chose to postpone the whole round of fixtures as a mark of respect, but Forest could return to action on Friday night when they host Fulham at the City Ground. Steve Cooper's side have started the season slowly having won just one game in their opening six and sit in the bottom three.

Ahead of the weekend's action and before the postponements due to the passing of the Queen, Merson had predicted Leeds to beat Forest 2-0 in the match which was scheduled for this evening at Elland Road. In his Sportskeeda column, Merson wrote: "This is a big game for Leeds United as this is the first time they are going into a Premier League clash expecting to win.

"They are the better team and have shown what they are capable of this season, I think they'll win this game comfortably."

It is unclear when the match will be re-arranged, but the Premier League is reportedly set to return this weekend. The Mirror claim that the Premier League are 'hoping' get as many games on as possible next weekend following the postponement of the previous match week.

The Mirror adds that The TV companies, clubs and Premier League are 'desperate' to get the games on. The league will still have to overcome one major hurdle, however. Police officers are on standby in London ahead of the Queen’s state funeral next Monday, which causes problems for all games taking place in the capital this coming weekend.
