Paul Merson and Michael Owen agree on key prediction for Arsenal vs Leicester

Arsenal hero Paul Merson has backed his old side to beat Leicester City on Sunday afternoon as Mikel Arteta's side continue their quest to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

The Gunners now find themselves two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the current Premier League standings after the Red Devils secured a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

However, Arteta and Co have four games in hand on United and can go back above them by beating the Foxes at the Emirates Stadium, something that Merson has predicted to happen.

Writing for Sportskeeda, he said: "Leicester have turned a bit of a corner, but they’ll have to do without Jamie Vardy this week.

"Youri Tielemans could be on the move this summer – Brendan Rodgers has made him a much better player.

"He hasn’t signed a contract as yet, and I think he’ll be on his way.

"The football Arsenal played last week was breathtaking. They could put severe pressure on United and Spurs in the top-four race with a victory. This game will be tight, but I’d expect Arsenal to win this game."

Merson's prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Leicester City

Former Liverpool and Manchester United frontman Michael Owen also weighed in with his own prediction for the highly-anticipated clash, backing the north Londoners to secure their fifth league win on the bounce.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Arsenal keep winning and look in firm control of that fourth placed position.

“Some of the football against Watford was superb, with the likes of [Bukayo] Saka, [Martin] Odegaard and [Gabriel] Martinelli all playing well. Saka in particular has had a brilliant season and get’s better every time I watch him.

“Leicester have won four in a row in all competitions and look to be building some momentum. They beat a decent Rennes side on Thursday, but this is obviously a step-up.

“I can’t see Arsenal dropping points at the minute. Leicester might be a little tired from playing on Thursday, and I’m going for a 2-0 Arsenal win.”

Owen's Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Leicester City
