Paul Merson and Chris Sutton agree on Chelsea vs Leicester prediction amid Wesley Fofana deal

Pundits Paul Merson and Chris Sutton have both backed Chelsea to pick up their first home win of the season this afternoon as the Blues host a winless Leicester City side at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel's side have four points from their opening three Premier League matches, having won 1-0 on the opening weekend at Everton before drawing 2-2 at home to Tottenham and being embarrassed at Leeds last weekend, losing 3-0 at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, the Foxes have just one point to their name having lost their last two league matches against Arsenal and Southampton respectively and, although it's been a stagnant start to the season for Tuchel's men, the west London side are heavily fancied to take the three points.

"I don't see Leicester having a great season at the moment," Merson, who is backing a 3-0 home win, told Sportskeeda. "Wesley Fofana and Youri Tielemans are two of their best players, and they're going to leave. James Maddison could get a bit restless as well, and Leicester may well have a mutiny on their hands.

"I think Leicester are in for a very, very long Premier League season. They had to bring on their big guns to get it done on penalties against Stockport the other day. Fortunately, they have a very good manager, but there's a lot going on at the club. The one thing I love about them is that they have a go, and that could be their Achilles' heel this week.

"Leicester will need to shut shop at Stamford Bridge, but I don't think they will. Chelsea are a wounded animal at the moment, and I think they'll pull off a big win this weekend."

Elsewhere, Sutton doesn't think Chelsea will win as convincingly as Merson, however, the former Blackburn Rovers and Celtic striker is also backing a victory for the Blues, predicting 2-1.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton said: "Chelsea have their interest in Leicester defender Wesley Fofana, which does not seem like a deal that will get over the line by Saturday. Chelsea have made a heavy play for him, but it will be interesting to see whether he will start for the Foxes and whether his head is in the right place or not.

"I fancy Chelsea to respond from their 3-0 defeat at Elland Road. I didn't see that performance coming, they were way off it. Leeds played with far greater intensity and hunger and you don't often say that about Chelsea.

"Thomas Tuchel's side have had problems with goal scoring and a number nine, but I think they will win this one."
