Paul McCartney's Glastonburger will be on sale at festival - or make it yourself

Linda McCartney’s is celebrating Paul McCartney headlining the iconic British music festival this summer, with the exclusive, limited-edition ‘Glastonburger’.

With the Linda McCartney’s team serving up veggie and vegan treats to Glastonbury goers by the Pyramid Stage, they set their sights on wanting to offer something extra special, so asked Paul McCartney just how he liked to eat his burgers. Paul shared his personal recipe and gave it a fitting name for the festival… and the ‘Glastonburger’ was born.

A take on the classic burger, the ‘Glastonburger’ consists of a Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian 1/4lb Burger topped with iceberg lettuce, gherkins, Worthy Farm Somerset cheese and a burger relish, in a fluffy bun served with crispy chips - simply swap the cheese for a plant based alternative for a vegan-friendly version.

The limited-edition burger will be available for hungry festival-goers to purchase onsite at Glastonbury from June n22 to 26 next to the Pyramid Stage.

If you’ve not been lucky enough to get your hands on a ticket, you can follow Paul McCartney’s own recipe below and serve yours up while catching the best performances and music at the festival from the comfort of home.

Makes 1 Burger

Ingredients:

  • 1 Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian 1/4lb

  • 1 seeded bun

  • 2 leaves of iceberg lettuce

  • 2 tbsp classic burger relish

  • 1 slice of Somerset cheddar or plant based alternative

  • 1 large gherkin, sliced

  • chips to serve

Method:

  1. First, you’ll need to oven cook your Linda McCartney’s Vegetarian 1/4 lb from frozen. Start by loosely wrapping your burger in tin foil (just like Paul McCartney does to lock in extra moisture) and preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan /Gas Mark 6. Place the burger onto a preheated baking tray and cook in the centre of the oven for 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.

  2. Add your chips to the oven and cook as per packet instructions.

  3. Once the burger is nearly done, remove it from the oven and open the foil. Add your slice of cheese before returning the burger to the oven to allow the cheese to melt on top of the burger for the final 2 minutes.

  4. While the cheese is melting, cut your bun in half and lightly toast both halves so that it is golden in colour. Once toasted, add half your burger relish to the base half and set aside.

  5. Take your burger out of the oven and place it on top of your relished bun base. Then add your sliced gherkins and iceberg lettuce followed by the rest of the relish and finally your bun top.

  6. Take your chips out of the oven and enjoy it all while deliciously hot.
