New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas entered concussion protocol, as reported by the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan. Douglas and running back Ty Montgomery were the only players not at the Patriots’ practice on Wednesday.
Douglas’ injury stems from a hard hit he suffered while returning a punt in the final quarter of Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants. He has been one of the most productive receivers for the Patriots this season with 36 catches for 410 yards.
It has been an impressive run for the rookie sixth-round draft pick, who has emerged into one of the Patriots’ best receiving targets.
Douglas believed that his injury wasn’t too serious on Sunday. Now, however, it appears to be a little bit of a different story.
WR Demario Douglas did enter concussion protocol, per source.

The Patriots could use Douglas, as they take on a Los Angeles Chargers team with a struggling secondary. Others will have to step up in a receiving unit that has been one of the worst in the league this season.
