The New England Patriots are trading reserve quarterback Jarrett Stidham to the Las Vegas Raiders, per multiple reports.
Both teams are swapping late-round picks in the deal, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
A fourth-round pick out of Auburn in the 2019 NFL draft, Stidham has appeared in just eight games over three seasons in New England, completing 24 of 48 passes for 250 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Patriots spent a first-round pick on starter Mac Jones last year, and just used a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft on Western Kentucky’s Bailey Zappe, who will be the projected backup going into the 2022 season.
Stidham now gets a chance to replace Marcus Mariota as Derek Carr’s backup in Las Vegas, reuniting with new Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, who has been Stidham’s offensive coordinator in New England.
