The New England Patriots’ race in the AFC East just got a lot tougher.
The Miami Dolphins acquired All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey on Sunday in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams received a 2023 third-round pick and tight and Hunter Long, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
This is a game-changing move for Miami, who is set to release corner Byron Jones at the start of the league year on March 15.
Ramsey spent the last four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, winning a Super Bowl in the process. He was also a First-Team All-Pro in 2020 and 2021. He has made the Pro Bowl every year since the 2017 season.
This is an unfortunate development for New England, who will now have to go up against one of the best corners in the National Football League. The Patriots play the Dolphins twice this season, including once in Miami. The Dolphins now have a formidable roster on both sides of the football, with the offense being headlined by Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts New England, as the divisional arms race just got a lot tighter.
