New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones commented on the DeAndre Hopkins rumors on Monday afternoon. He remained diplomatic but indicated there would be a mutual interest there.
Hopkins is coming off a 2022 season that saw him record 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns. New England would add him to a wide receiver group that has gotten an upgrade in the offseason. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster was New England’s biggest addition, along with tight end Mike Gesicki.
The hypothetical move would also reunite Hopkins with offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien. There have been tensions between the two in the past, but there would be football familiarity there as well.
For his part, Jones is coming off a season that saw him record 2,997 passing yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
“Obviously, we’d love to have him,” Jones said after mandatory minicamp practice.

Hopkins would give New England a top wide receiver and help round out the offense as a whole.
A top-tier receiving weapon will be needed, as New England looks to keep up with the rest of the AFC. Speculation will continue to loom with Hopkins currently taking team visits.
