Patriots QB Mac Jones believes two improvements helped team beat the Jets

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones believes that communication played a big part in the Patriots’  22-17 win over the New York Jets on Sunday.

The Patriots were coming off a Monday night loss to the Chicago Bears, and the team needed to respond. They certainly did that, as Jones threw for 194 yards and a touchdown in the victory. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson also played a big part in this game. He carried the ball 16 times for 71 yards and a touchdown.

The offense played better in what was a must-win game for the team. Jones had several reasons for the success of the offense, including film emphasis and importance placed on communication. He alluded to it following the game, as transcribed by Zack Cox of NESN.com.

“I think just talking through some things and watching extra film together is obviously very beneficial,” Jones said. “Getting more reps in our own time and talking through things. Whatever we had questions on, we were just more, ‘All right, how do we do this? What do we need to do here?’ Obviously, that’s important. You want to be on the same page, and I felt like we’ve made strides there. But we’ve got to continue to do that.”

Jones struggled in the first half of Sunday’s game. However, he bounced back in the second half by linking up with wideout Jakobi Meyers for a touchdown pass.

Jones and the rest of the Patriots will face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9, as they look to continue their climb in the playoff hunt.
