Isaiah Wynn is focused on the task at hand against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t heard the swirling trade rumors regarding the New England Patriots reportedly shopping him to other teams.
But hearing about something and paying attention to it are two very different things entirely, and Wynn flat-out refuses to do the latter.
“I don’t pay attention to that,” said Wynn, per the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan. “(I’m) worried about the game on Sunday. We got a game, so I ain’t worried about none of that.”
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported back in August that the Patriots were “probably going to trade someone,” and the team had been in previous trade conversations involving Wynn.
However, the team did manage to alleviate some cap space by restructuring tight end Jonnu Smith’s contract. And considering the struggles along the offensive front, they may not be in a position to move Wynn right now. The Patriots are better when he’s healthy and on the field.
They expect that to be the case with him returning to practice this week ahead of a divisional showdown against the Dolphins.
