New England Patriots center David Andrews is defending the organization, following unflattering rankings in an NFLPA survey of working conditions for NFL teams.
New England did not exactly receive high marks, scoring a D grade for weight rooms, D-plus for travel, and a C-minus grade for treatment of facilities.
Those grades put the Patriots towards the bottom of the league.
Andrews has been with the organization since the 2015 season, after going undrafted. He’s used the facilities and has a good idea of how things go on a day-to-day basis. So him coming to their defense during a Read Across America Day event was definitely noteworthy.
“Any survey can be skewed,” Andrews told reporters, according to Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian. “There’s guys that may have only been in New England, guys that have maybe been with one other team, or ten other teams who took the survey. There’s guys that have families, guys that don’t have families, whatever it may be.
“I’m grateful to be in that building. It’s got everything I need to be successful. The training staff, the equipment staff, every staff has always been great to me, and helped me out. I think there’s everything I need to succeed in there.”
Andrews has certainly played a big part in the success of the New England organization over the years. His words don’t ring hollow, given his career accolades to this point.
Super Bowls and a Patriots All-2010’s Team honor are just some of the things he has been able to do while with the organization. He is under contract with the Patriots for three more seasons, which means he’ll have time to continue building upon that resume.
