Patriots’ Bill Belichick Won’t Commit to Mac Jones as Starting QB

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has struggled mightily in his third NFL season, including a rough performance in Stuttgart, Germany, against the Colts on Sunday.

Jones threw an interception late in the game, helping to seal a loss that dropped New England to 2-8 on the season. He also was benched in favor of Bailey Zappe for the last drive of the game, leaving his status as the team’s starter in question.

As the Patriots enter their bye week, head coach Bill Belichick isn’t committing to Jones as the starter when the team returns to action on Nov. 26.

“We have a lot of things to work on this week as a team. We’ll work through those,” Belichick said at a press conference Tuesday morning, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “That is what we are going to do this week.”

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has recorded 10 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions through 10 games this season.

In 10 games this year, Jones has totaled 2,031 passing yards, 10 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. The former first-round draft pick has thrown an interception in all but two games this season.

After the bye week, the Patriots play the Giants (2-8) at MetLife Stadium on Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. ET.
