Patriots’ Bill Belichick received a UFC championship belt, finally proving he can win without Tom Brady

It’s been an okay couple of years for Patriots’ head coach/GM Bill Belichick. After Tom Brady’s departure to the Buccaneers in 2020, Belichick’s bunch has won 17 games total, even qualifying for a playoff berth last season.

By comparison, Brady won Super Bowl 55 in Tampa Bay and might have been a few plays from defeating the Rams this past January — the eventual Super Bowl 56 champions. For those counting at home since this legendary duo separated, that’s one Super Bowl, five playoff wins for Brady, and zero Super Bowls and zero playoff wins for Belichick.

On Wednesday, Belichick finally started to even the odds without his former legendary QB. In a video captured by play-by-play announcer Brendan Fitzgerald (@BrendanFitzTV), UFC president Dana White gifted the New England head coach a UFC championship belt during a visit to the company’s headquarters. In other words, it’s the first thing of significance that Belichick’s won without Brady.

And after showing it off to onlookers, Belichick’s glee was hilariously wholesome:

That is one happy football coach who, famously, often doesn’t show emotion in public. I mean, look at that smile! The score that both men are definitely keeping track of now reads Brady 6 and Belichick 1.

NFL fans loved Belichick's glee at receiving the UFC title belt
