Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace face late decisions over key duo for West Ham clash

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira will have a couple of late decisions to make ahead of the trip to face West Ham United this weekend.

Palace make the trip across the capital to take on David Moyes' Hammers at the London Stadium on Sunday, with the Eagles still searching for their first away win of the season. Vieira's side have won four times at home, with a third victory in a row on home soil coming last weekend against Southampton.

But the goalscorer from the 1-0 win, Odsonne Edouard, is a doubt for the trip to face West Ham, with Vieira confirming that he will need to see how he is after training on Saturday as he gave a team news update ahead of the game.

Vieira said: “[Odsonne] Edouard will do a little bit more training with the team tomorrow [Saturday] and we’ll make a decision then.

“Cheick [Doucoure] started his first training session with the team today [Friday] so we’ll wait for tomorrow to see the reaction, it’s best to wait and see how they feel tomorrow after the work they did today.”

Doucoure has played ten matches for the Eagles this season, but the 22-year-old has not featured since the 2-1 win against Wolves last month, missing the 3-0 defeat at Everton through suspension, before being sidelined with an injury for the victory against Southampton.

Meanwhile, Vieira spoke to the press about how West Ham are in a better place now after the slow start they had to the season, with the Palace boss wary of the threat posed by David Moyes' side.

Vieira said: “I think they are in a better place now with the way they play, they didn’t have the start they were looking for but are now playing really well, looking really solid. They have quality in every line, they have players who can score, make a difference and have a massive impact in games.”
