New York Islanders coach Patrick Roy, a former Colorado Avalanche goaltender, returned to Ball Arena for a game against his former team, sparking memories of his time with the Avalanche. Roy reflected on his role in helping the Avalanche secure two Stanley Cup titles and his abrupt resignation as coach before the 2016-17 NHL season.
Roy expressed no regrets about his past actions, emphasizing his gratitude for returning to coaching with the Islanders last January. He acknowledged the success of the Avalanche under coach Jared Bednar, who led the team to a Stanley Cup victory in 2022.
