Patrick Mahomes' incredible NFL streak to end as Kansas City Chiefs face Buffalo Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills in one of the heavyweight clashes of week six, but despite Josh Allen facing Patrick Mahomes many times before, it will be a first in both of their careers.

Mahomes will be named as a home underdog for the first time in his NFL career, with the Chiefs quarterback always heavily backed at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes has been favoured in his first 41 home starts, including the post-season, up until now.

This record is the longest ever streak to begin a career in the Super Bowl era, but all good things must come to an end. Allen's Bills side have been tipped as the Super Bowl favourites this year, and the visiting quarterback has been given the edge on Sunday.

The Bills and Chiefs could very well be a huge play-off game deep into the AFC Championship post-season. In fact, it's very likely to be, with both sides already boasting a 4-1 record, with only a narrow, disappointing loss on their record so far.

But they butt heads at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday for a huge tester to see who has the edge at this point in the campaign. It's likely that the the winning side will remain favourites for the Super Bowl title, whoever picks up the victory.

Mahomes is a different breed at home, although his last defeat there came in the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals last season. The game prior to that was a stunner, as the Chiefs beat the Bills 42-36 before losing to Joe Burrow's side.

But everything about the Bills this season screams success, and it says a lot that Mahomes is being viewed as a slight underdog on his home turf. The only defeat the Bills have taken this season is a 21-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and it was a game they should have won.

Despite posting 400 passing yards, Allen failed to secure that one final touchdown to keep their record intact, and a clip of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey went viral. Dorsey proceeded to smash up the technical room as Allen failed to convert what was seen as a routine touchdown, and it remains their only blip so far.

Coincidentally, there was a similar bust-up in the Chiefs' only loss this season as Mahomes was seen complaining to Eric Bieniemy at half-time. The Chiefs were actually leading at half-time, but Mahomes appeared unhappy with some play calls.

The Chiefs only scored three points in the second half and lost 20-17 to the Indianapolis Colts as a result. The similarities between the Chiefs and the Bills this season is only adding to the excitement, although the Bills have been given the edge.

Coming off the back of a 38-3 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bills are in full motion, and their rigid defence along with their star-studded attack is making them the team to beat. Mahomes may be the underdog for once, but even still, he can never be overlooked at Arrowhead.
