Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had some very strong praise for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy during Monday’s Super Bowl Opening Night.
As he’s set to take on the 49ers starter for the first time, Mahomes, arguably one of the best quarterbacks of all time, gave the young 49ers quarterback his flowers and said he’s been following Purdy’s career since he was in college at Iowa State.
“He’s done a great job in these last two years that he’s played,” Mahomes said about Purdy. “He does a great job extending plays. He does a great job making the throws, and he’s a winner.
“He’s always been a winner, and that’s what it takes in this league. It’s not always the flashy plays. It’s, ‘Can you go out there and win?’ And I think he does both. The flashy and he wins football games.”
"He does both. The flashy and he wins football games."

Well, that’s an incredibly classy read on Purdy’s career so far from Mahomes.
Although, we’re betting the Chiefs quarterback is hoping Purdy doesn’t play his best game yet as the two teams play each other in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
