Patrick Mahomes explains the Kansas City Chiefs new nursery rhyme dance during game

The Kansas City Chiefs are used to stunning NFL fans when on the field, but it is typically from their play and not from their antics.

The Chiefs have secured the top seed in the AFC after they beat the Las Vegas Raiders 31-13, and they looked delighted when leading their divisional rivals. So delighted, that they brought out an old school nursery rhyme dance before preparing to snap the ball.

The Chiefs all huddled and began jumping around in a circle as they danced in the style of 'Ring Around the Rosie', and this is all while the Raiders defence were ready to line up.

And Patrick Mahomes explained after the game that it's become a genuine part of their game plan.

We are used to seeing dances and unique moves in the NFL, and in 2023 literally anything could happen. From Justin Jefferson's 'griddy' to Jaylen Waddle's iconic moves, it's becoming a staple within the league.

But these moves are usually brought out at the end of plays, as players celebrate catches, touchdowns or even stoppages. However, the Chiefs decided to add a dance to their official game plan, and the Raiders watched on in amazement.

Before the snap as the Chiefs honed in on the endzone, they started jumping around in a circle as they all embraced. They then quickly lined up in formation, and ran their next offensive play.

But this wasn't a one-time thing, as Mahomes confirmed after the game that it even has it's own play name.

He said: "So we call it snow globe, we drew it up right before Christmas and we practiced it as messing around but the coach said 'I like that'.

"We put it in the game plan and it worked!"

Head coach Andy Reid is a fan, and when asked on the sidelines after they had done the 'snow globe', he just laughed and high-fived the reporter.

The Chiefs secured the top seed in the AFC and as a result they will sit out during the first week of the playoffs.

"Yeah it's important, getting that bye is like winning a playoff game," Mahomes said.

But although they have the bye, due to the Buffalo Bills missing out on the opportunity through issues out of their control, the NFL have confirmed that a neutral site will be used if they face the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.

The Bills face the New England Patriots on Sunday, and need a win in order to qualify for the NFL's proposal. But in their first game since Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field, it won't be easy.
